For a collective 40 years, we have been pursuing truths and truth-telling in the early history of Australia and the South Seas. Uncharted Letters is many years in the making, and brings a new way of getting the old, back to you, in a most old fashioned way! Each month you will receive a letter, sealed with a wax mark, a few extras like sketches, charts and news clippings, and the occasional postcard from faraway places, and some that may be closer than you think.
Our letters will provide accurate accounts of Australia's early history from well before Captain Cook's arrival (not discovery) in Australia, and include much of the South Seas from Papua New Guinea and West Papua in the West, to Hawaii, and Rapa Nui in the East; New Zealand in the South and the Marianas, Palau and all of Micronesia in the North - The Great South Seas and the Oceania region.
We believe in the power of WORDS. In fact everybody believes in the power of words. It is the spoken and written word that has shaped our lives today, from oral traditions, art and songs of Indigenous peoples of the South Pacific, It is also the written word of the early explorers, Colonial powers, Monarchs, Governments, Schools and even the Church that have created a recorded history. However, it is also WORDS, written and spoken, that have curated this known history that, in many instances, contains only one side of the story and doesn't take into consideration differing lenses through which history occurred.
Our mission is to give readers a more complete and accurate account of Australia's early history and the South Pacific's evolution over time. And yes, this does include stories of Colonisation, Slavery, Resource Raiding, Headhunting, Cannibalism, Missionaries and Voyaging. And it also involves much more than that. We believe that every letter we send has the potential to make a difference. We are committed to providing an easy and enjoyable way for readers to experience major events that shaped our part of the world. Put the kettle on, turn off the screen, phone or tablet and break the wax seal on your own letter, and get ready to see the world through other eyes.
Ahhh... we love old fashioned mail, posted and sent via plane, train and automobile, and handled by humans. Subscribe now to get the latest stories from our Time Travelers but be assured we will try to convert you to the old fashioned ways of traditional mail. We just love melted wax!
